About our blog

united➃design’s blog seeks to stimulate a dialogue about architecture and global practice. Fifty years ago Marshall McLuhan prophetically observed that “…the globe is no more than a village. Electric speed at bringing all social and political functions together in a sudden implosion that has heightened human awareness of responsibility to an intense degree.” Today, even the smallest design firm is able to pursue work almost anywhere in the world allowing a growing population greater access to design services. How do architects navigate this expanding territory? Here we examine the idea of an intelligent global practice, one that deploys an “awareness of responsibility,” while working within a wide range of cultural, political, and geographical contexts.
